D2 Jamboree Sets The Table For Upcoming Season
Football season is right around the corner, and we can’t wait.
Harrison’s is continuing (and expanding) our support of local high school programs again this school year, and that includes a new kickoff sponsorship for Boiling Springs football. We’re hoping you’ll think of us every time toe meets leather.
We were also excited to support the D2 Jamboree, with Chesnee, Union County, Dorman, Ridge View, J.L. Mann, and the host Bulldogs all in their final tuneup for the season.
There was plenty of great football on display. Chesnee put on an aerial show, as Evan-Reece Lawter finished with a perfect passing night. He went 7-7 for 163 yards and two touchdowns as the Eagles beat Union County 21-0 in their two quarters of work. The bulk of that production went to Braylon Blanton, who caught four balls for 107 yards and both scores.
Dorman gave fans a look at transfer QB Meek Slydell, but it was the Cavaliers’ short-yardage QB who turned some heads. The team’s familiar GATA package returned, with all-everything LB Kentavion Anderson taking snaps (and scoring a TD), but Dorman fell to White Knoll 14-6 as QB Tre Howard had a big night on the ground.

In the nightcap, the host Bulldogs had a late TD overturned on a penalty and fell to J.L. Mann 12-10. However, Boiling Springs showed plenty of good things, with Jeremiah Favorite a nightmare in the return game, Imri Logan doing some good things at QB, and Favorite, TJ Collins, and Dennis Glenn Jr. leading a tenacious Bulldog defense.
Boiling Springs coach Matt Reel said the old-school jamboree format brought the kind of night he was hoping the community could enjoy.
“I just wanted to have a really good night of football when we host this here,” Reel said. “I wanted to have good teams who are physical, because that’s what we’re going to see every week. It’s what Chesnee will see every week. Having them here was huge. Getting Dorman here to be able to have them with us was great. And obviously our game against J.L. Mann was a huge thing. We’re just trying to have the fans feel like they got $10 worth of excitement and saw three good games. And for us, having a tough game to get us ready for Greer next week was important. Tonight was everything we needed to feel like we’re getting ready for next week.”
